Homeowners adding to their flood woes, says Hiscox

Specialist home insurer Hiscox welcomes Sir Michael Pitt’s review, published today, into flood defences, but warned that homeowners are continuing to put themselves at risk by failing to consider the insurance service they will expectand need in the aftermath of such an event.

Steve Langan, managing director, Hiscox UK, said: “Homeowners in at-risk areas need more education about what to expect from their insurer should the worst happen. As Sir Michael has pointed out, there were significantly different levels of service experienced by the people affected by the floods in 2007.
