Hastings and Equity Direct close regional centres

Hastings and Equity Direct has revealed that, subject to consultation, it will close two of its five contact centres, one in Manchester and one in Leicester.

In a statement, Hastings and Equity Direct said: "The decision to focus future development of the business over fewer sites has been driven by automation and changing customer behaviour patterns, where a greater number of consumers choose to buy their insurance over the internet.

"Over the next 12 months the businesses’ Leicester and Manchester call centres will be progressively scaled down with the bulk of the work migrating to the Bexhill call centre. The Southampton and Colchester centres

Broking profits fall at Saga

Underlying profit before tax in Saga’s insurance broking arm fell to £39.8m for the year ended 31 January 2024, compared with £71.5m in the previous period.
