Travel insurer estimate 3.32 million first-timer skiers to hit the slopes

New research from travel insurance company, InsureandGo, has found that 7% of the adult population – some 3.32 million people - intend to go skiing or snowboarding for the first-time over the next few months.

InsureandGo has estimated that as many as 760,000 (23%) will hit the slopes without having any lessons if they continue the trend of current skiers/snowboarders.

Perry Wilson, managing director, InsureandGo said: “Skiing and snowboarding can be dangerous, so it’s important to make sure you are prepared, and this means that you should have lessons. Some people think they don’t need them, and I suspect that many of the medical related winter sports claims we receive are from them.”
