▶ What are the origins of the business? 

The business was founded in 1962 by John Gorton who was an accountant. He had an accountancy practice and decided he wanted to open a high street broker. So he took on the high street broker in Radcliffe and that was another arm to the accountancy firm. At the start it predominantly did home and car insurance.
