Brokers and insurers have started the year off with a bang – or for many at least a fresh challenge in the shape of a new job.

Insurers have been particularly busy lately, with Aviva and AIG making changes to their top layers and RSA and Covéa hiring new employees. In addition, HCC has hired a new liability underwriter and ERS added two staff on the claims side. Brokers have been relatively quiet during the past month, perhaps saving their energy for future activities. Broking profits fall at Saga

Underlying profit before tax in Saga’s insurance broking arm fell to £39.8m for the year ended 31 January 2024, compared with £71.5m in the previous period.
