Market moves: Normal service is resumed

Men shaking hands

Regular readers can all breathe a sigh of relief – last month saw a return to the norm in market moves. After a frankly weird September issue where neither Lorica nor Towergate appeared on these hallowed pages, they’re both back in abundance. Elsewhere in the broker market, Bluefin continued its recruitment campaign, while Brightside Group decided to bid adieu to its CEO Martyn Holman. In the main however, brokers of all shapes and sizes were appointing new staff, with Hendersons bulking up its Hessle branch and RK Harrison poaching a fine art double act from Aon Artscope, among others. The insurers were in good form also. Allianz and Axa both made a string of appointments, the former completely overhauling its claims team. But it was Aviva which dominated recruitment news. Robin Spencer has left the building, and they’ve gone to Canada for his replacement.

Lorica Insurance Brokers made its usual swathe of hires, appointing seven new recruits to its branches in London, Birmingham and Hemel Hempstead. And bouncing back from last month’s blip, the broker took two of its new hires from Towergate.

Charles Eurell and Richard Brannigan left the consolidator to join Lorica’s Birmingham office as claims handler and account director respectively. Shaun Cooper, who will be based in the London office, joined as director, cyber risks. Also joining in London
