The winner of this year's Achievement Award is the head of a successful and forward-thinking independent brokerage. David Slade has demonstrated a tireless passion for his own business, his own region - Birmingham - and for the profession of broking since he started in the business.
Having left school at 16 - something which will be impossible in the future under the present education policy - he started his career in 1961 at Royal Exchange Insurance, before joining Midlands broker Hogg Robinson
