Ecclesiastical GWP and profit tick up in H1

Ecclesiastical’s UK and Ireland business grew in the first six months of the year alongside the underwriting profit and combined operating ratio both improving.

The insurer’s division expanded gross written premium by 2.7% to £233.4m compared with the same period of 2025. Ecclesiastical flagged the growth was driven by “new business wins and a high level of retention”.

Favourable weather-related claims and fewer large losses helped with the year-on-year improvement in underwriting profit. This rose from £16.6m to £18.7m.
