Brown & Brown boss Barrett Brown resigns and to exit in 2027

Powell Brown, Mike Bruce and Barrett Brown

P. Barrett Brown, executive vice-president and former president of the retail segment, has resigned from Brown & Brown and will leave at the end of July 2027, the US-headquartered broker has confirmed.

He was at the helm as retail president when Brown & Brown bought Global Risk Partners for £1.48bn in 2022.

When the US-giant rebranded GRP and promoted Mike Bruce to CEO of Brown & Brown Europe the following year, Barrett Brown (pictured, right) was one of the leaders Bruce (pictured, centre) was working directly with.

Chief operating officer Steve Hearn succeeded Barrett Brown as retail president in a dual role in October last year, with the latter taking a personal leave of absence.
