A former Scotland Yard detective superintendent and counter-fraud manager at Royal and SunAlliance is to head up a new anti-fraud detection agency to tackle the increasingly sophisticated techniques of insurance fraudsters.

The Insurance Fraud Bureau, launched on July 26, is linked to vast databases including 160 million records from the Motor Insurance Anti-Fraud and Theft Register and the Motor Insurance Database.
