Brit Insurance has announced the appointment of Ian Powell to the newly-created role of chief information officer.
Mr Powell will report chief operating officer, Malcolm Beane, and takes up his position immediately.
According to the insurer, Mr Powell will take responsibility for four business teams: IT operations; change delivery; application development and support; and architecture & portfolio management.
He has 20 years of experience managing information and technology functions in financial institutions and joins Brit Insurance from BlackRock (formerly Merrill Lynch Investment Managers), where he was most recently head of technology service management for its EMEA operations.
Malcolm Beane, chief operating officer at Brit Insurance, commented: "Ian has a fantastic track record of managing and delivering systems, processes and services. With his broad spectrum of experience managing technology within a global financial services business his arrival is a great addition to our group operations team."
