I read with interest the article by Andrew Newman on the fallout of
the private motor sector, and in particular the comment made that East
West's pricing destabilised the market prior to its withdrawal in June
1997.


While I would agree that the motor insurance market is extremely
competitive, I find it astonishing that a company with a turnover of only
£36m is being blamed for a pricing policy that has touched the entire
motor market.
