The Association of British Insurers has issued a stern warning to the
market to become year 2000-compliant or face problems as early as October
this year.


John Kemble, manager electronic commerce at the ABI, told PB that too many
brokers still believe that year 2000-related problems will not materialise
until the start of the new millennium. "The broker market needs its
software to be year 2000-compliant by October this year, as come November,
renewal notices will go out with year 2000 renewal
