Eric Galbraith, chief executive of the British Insurance Brokers' Association, said: "The rise of consumerism, media scrutiny of high-profile failures and a burgeoning compensation culture have all served to reduce the perceived value of brokers' advice.
"Brokers are not just distributors of products, they are advisers and experts in their own right. We must promote the broker and intermediary channel as the consumer's choice.
"I desperately want to believe that regulation will be a strength. BIBA
