Up to 30% of insurance intermediaries are likely to go out of business in the next three years.
According to Insurance Broking Into The Year 2000, published by FT Business, small high-street retailers, garages and solicitors will feel the squeeze from new competitors and the introduction of market-wide regulation.
The report says the sector will also witness the emergence of a new type of intermediary which is Internet-based and can also trade across a range of different distribution channels
