Three matters in this month’s issue can certainly be interwoven. Firstly, as revealed by Insurance Age, Liberty Mutual bought Hughes Insurance in Northern Ireland. It is an interesting deal for a variety of reasons as Caitlin Morrison tackles in her piece on page four. The acquisitions theme is also developed in Tony Cornell’s piece (page 16) on brokers selling their business. He describes “pent up” demand and he is right from both the buyer and the seller point of view.
