After many years working abroad, Zurich’s Steve Lewis returned to a very different UK market but, he tells Caitlin Morrison, he is prepared to meet any challenge

Zurich’s UK general insurance CEO is a well-travelled man, both in terms of geography and his many moves within the company.

Having trained as an accountant, Steve Lewis originally entered the insurance market when he joined the Eagle Star Insurance Company, then owned by BAT Industries. Following a switch from the external to the internal audit function, he was presented with the opportunity to move to Hong Kong for six months in order to make a strategic assessment of the Asian market.

ABI records 3% home premiums rise in Q1

Average home insurance premiums for buildings and contents cover rose by 3% to £375 in the first quarter of this year, pushing the year-on-year rise up to 19%, according to the Association of British Insurers.
