Hearing the term restrictive covenant in the bars and restaurants surrounding Leadenhall Street will always make a broker sit up and listen and Polly is no different.

She has got her teeth into a rather good piece of gossip this month and is prepared to have a chew. Apparently certain, rather large, brokers have been trying to get around the problem of staff not having restrictive covenants by slyly slipping them into seemingly innocuous documents. One broker has used an agreement with a software house while another has lured staff in with the promise of a shares scheme.
