Melanie Hampton delighted with Brexit result

Leave supporter Melanie Hampton says there is no reason for the strong, stable UK industry to change due to Brexit.

The managing director of Alexander Miller Insurance Brokers, described last night as the "best night of my life" as she welcomed the vote for the UK to exit the European Union.

She stated: "This is about ordinary decent men and women up and down the country making their views heard. I am so proud of democracy. The gap was four percent. We have had a decisive victory."

The final result showed 17.4 million people had voted Leave and 16.1 million people had voted Remain in the EU membership

ABI records 3% home premiums rise in Q1

Average home insurance premiums for buildings and contents cover rose by 3% to £375 in the first quarter of this year, pushing the year-on-year rise up to 19%, according to the Association of British Insurers.
