FCA questions validity of cost of regulation comparisons

Biba vows to continue to push the message of the disproportionate cost of regulation as FCA hikes fees by 8.5%.

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has formally responded to representations by a "trade body representing insurers" which stated that the cost of regulation is significantly higher in the UK compared to other EU-member countries.

The watchdog noted that the trade body acknowledged that it is not straightforward to make international comparisons because regulatory structures and aims vary as do insurance products and providers.
