£32.1bn paid out in claims in 2013 according to ABI
Pay outs for liability claims were down slightly on 2012 to £6.8bn.
UK general insurers paid out an extra £1.5bn on claims compared to the 2012 figure of £30.6bn. According to the Association of British Insurers (ABI), claims for 2013 cost £32.1bn.
Despite this increase, liability claims actually dropped slightly drop from £7m to £6.8m with employer's liability down £400,000 on the £2.7m sum in 2012.
The daily amount paid out on commercial property claims has reduced to below £3m. In 2012 it stood at £3.4m.
Motor insurers paid out £17.1m every day in private car
