Gallaghers wins race for Giles

Arthur J Gallagher has won the race for Giles, Insurance Age understands.

Sources have revealed that staff at Giles were notified of the deal at about 1pm. 

Speculation has surrounded the mooted acquisition of Giles for several weeks now with Marsh, Aon and Towergate all linked with the major acquisition.

In April this year it was reported that private equity group Charterhouse had begun looking for buyers for its majority stake in Giles.

Giles CEO, Brendan McManus, and Gallaghers have both declined to comment.
