MASS "disappointed" by bodily injury claims findings

The Motor Accident Solicitors Society (MASS) has said it is "very disappointed with, but not surprised" at the findings reported by The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.

The survey, released today, blamed claims management companies (CMCs) for the "staggering" increase in bodily injury accidents between 2010 and 2011.

The report revealed there had been an 18% increase in the proportion of such accidents - costing the insurance industry an extra £400m.

And MASS chair Donna Scully hit out at the rising numbers, citing that they came despite an 11% decline in accidents giving rise to third party claims.
