Powerplace chief executive out after only eight months

Powerplace, the Towergate online wholesale subsidiary, is to appoint its third chief executive in a year.

Insurance Age can reveal that Simon Ball, Powerplace chief executive, has lost his job just eight months after replacing his predecessor Matthew Reed, who is now at Axa Commercial Lines.

He is to be replaced on an interim basis by Nick Giddings, commercial director at Powerplace.

Mr Ball’s departure comes one month after Insurance Age revealed that Darren Rowe, former sales and marketing director at Powerplace, had been put on gardening leave.

He has since accepted a position at Perkins Slade as manager of corporate business.

Prior to taking over at Powerplace, Mr Ball headed up the failed online commercial provider Coverzones.
