Groupama mulling over sale of assets or stake

paris-sunset

French mutual insurer Groupama is reportedly considering the sale of a stake in the company to outside investors or selling some assets as it bids to strengthen its capital and restore its solvency margin.

According to French newspaper Les Echos, citing a person familiar with the situation, the insurer has had informal contacts with several potential foreign investors, including reinsurers Swiss Re and Munich Re as well as Berkshire Hathaway Warren Buffett's holding company.

The company last month replaced its long-standing chief executive with new management that would seek to boost its financial strength.
