Riot victims need claims deadline certainty, says Biba

Graeme Trudgill

The British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba) has urged insurers to provide a clear message on the claims notification deadline for riot victims.

While Biba welcomed Zurich's announcement that it is to extend its claims notification deadline from seven to 30 days, it called for other insurers dealing with claims to communicate their stance to brokers.

Graeme Trudgill, head of corporate affairs, said: "Following the government's move to 42 days we welcome Zurich's move to 30 days and hope more insurers can follow suit.

"It is important to get clear messages out as quickly as possible as the seven days are now up for some victims."
