The Association of British Insurers (ABI) is to publish a new statement of best practice for the selling of private medical insurance cover (PMI), to assist insurance companies offering PMI products. The statement will come into force on 15 January 2005. It is intended to provide the industry with a comprehensive code of practice for offering PMI products and to ensure that the consumer experiences a seamless transition to Financial Services Authority regulation of PMI sales.
