Angel Underwriting's directors' and officers' (D&O) web portal and quick-quote system - www.angelunderwriting.com - helps brokers manage a range of D&O and professional indemnity products. Brokers can use the system to print a quotation the moment it has been calculated, download a full set of pre-populated specimen documents and email copy documents to colleagues. In addition, the new portal allows each user to visit their own personalised web page where they can change or bind quotations instantly and view all policies. Angel claims the site gives brokers everything they need to manage D&O business, from a range of specialist products through to an online quotation and management system. Gary Proctor, divisional director at Oval James, part of the Oval Group, reviewed the website.
- Usability - Novice users will find this site very easy to navigate, and it will take you to most places within three to five clicks. Once registered, obtaining a premium indication is straight-forward, however, binding the cover will take a little getting used to. There are several questions to be answered - though the site does limit these. Documentation is instant and can be either printed or emailed.
- Presentation - There is plenty of information on the home page, which some may find too busy. However, a slight re-arrangement may help this by making the resource centre and live assistance sections more visible, rather than having to scroll down the page. Despite this, the site is well laid out; I particularly like the fact that the wordings are freely available and the underwriters are clearly identified.
- Strengths - The website is well laid out and straight-forward to use.
- Weaknesses - It does not provide a reason for underwriter referral, although it claims someone will be in touch. In addition, the live chat area is only available during normal office hours.
- How does it compare to competitors? This site, with a few tweaks, could be a market leader.
- Would you use the site? If the internet is your preferred distribution channel for this class of business, then is should be added to your favourites list.
Overall rating: 5 out of 5.

We help PII brokers to find out if their clients' quality management systems reduce risk. In our experience many don't, and certification to ISO 9001 is not a reliable indicator. We can help your clients to reduce bureaucracy and make controls more effective.
