RSA acquires Irish Underwriter

Royal & SunAlliance Insurance Group has acquired Sertus Underwriting in Ireland.

Sertus Underwriting is a well established business within the Irish motor and household insurance market.

In 2007 it achieved Gross Written Premiums of £11.3m (€16.5m). The transaction is consistent with Royal & SunAlliance’s strategy in Ireland of building leading positions in targeted segments.

ABI records 3% home premiums rise in Q1

Average home insurance premiums for buildings and contents cover rose by 3% to £375 in the first quarter of this year, pushing the year-on-year rise up to 19%, according to the Association of British Insurers.
