I am involved in motor fleet risk management and my aim is to prevent accidents happening to anyone who uses the roads, be it a rider, driver or pedestrian, writes Doug Jenkins, motor risk manager at QBE.
If you haven't yawned yet, you must be one of the few people who think that this type of thing applies to them, because in the main we all think we are good at driving, riding a bike or motorbike and behaving as a pedestrian.
I wonder if anyone reading this ever watched the film, Mr Walker and Mr Wheeler? It looks at how we act as a pedestrian and then as a driver of a motor car. Have a think about it, are you different walking along the road with other people on the pavement and then when you get in your car and drive? Oh come on, be honest!
Slow down
Road Safety Week is held in November each year and aims to raise the profile of various road safety projects or areas of concern. In 2010, the theme is Kids Say Slow Down.
