Aon Risk Solutions has appointed Craig Preston as area director responsible for Aon corporate’s Reading and Southampton offices.

Mr Preston is currently chief commercial officer of Aon's crisis management business. John Harris, currently executive director with regional responsibilities for ACM UK and Ireland, will be taking over this position. Both appointments take effect from 1 September 2010.

Mr Preston joined Aon's crisis management team in 2007 as head of crisis consulting and has been CCO since January of this year. Before joining Aon, he worked as a consultant specialising in leadership and team development.

Mr Harris has 24 years of risk management and insurance experience, 17 of which has been with Aon in various senior sales and leadership roles.

Jim Herbert, managing director of Aon Corporate, commented: "I am delighted that Craig is joining us, and that we have been able to fill this key position from within Aon's existing talent. Craig's diverse experience in developing and leading high performing teams will be invaluable as we focus on continuing to delight our clients and grow the business."

Aon has also appointed Bruce Grant as a further specialist to its renewable energy team. It is the second appointment in 2010 to this team, which was established in Spring 2008. According to the broker, it underlines the company's commitment to this growing sector and the realisation of renewable energy gaining an increasing share of the global energy mix.

Mr Grant joins from Marsh where he managed the renewable energy team and designed and placed major offshore wind policies. Aon has stated that he brings over a decade of renewable energy experience, including working on the first offshore wind deals placed in the London market. He also co-designed what have since become the standard offshore wind policy wordings.

Tom Sexton, head of global renewable energy, commented: "Having established the renewable energy team at Aon only two years ago, the team has gone from strength to strength, working on some of the biggest renewable energy deals of the last few years, and growing to become the leader in the market. Having worked with Bruce previously, I look forward to welcoming him to the team."
