Another iconic British insurer is set to fall to a continental rival, says Tony Cornell

In February last year, I wrote an article about RSA entitled RSA up for grabs?, which stated it was the right time to put investors out of their misery and concluded that few would take bets that it would exist as an independent insurer by the end of 2015. This prediction appears to be correct after the signposted offer from Zurich. At the time of writing, the deadline for a bid has been extended to 22 September and it is likely RSA will accept 550p per share.
