Summer is traditionally the time for a lack of news. The silly season did not get its name for nothing.
However, this year there has been no shortage of big stories, not least of which were the potential takeovers of RSA by Zurich and of Jelf by Marsh.
I've written editorial columns about RSA before. I've always believed the insurer was punching far below its weight. Its brand is highly regarded by brokers and it has felt like the provider could achieve far more with an aggressive growth push
