There are three principles that provide the basis for selling your business.

* You only sell once and your purchaser might have bought a number of times

* Sell at the top of the market and buy at the bottom

* Decide whether your ultimate priority is a good price or a good home.

The last major bout of buying brokers was in 2008 and since then activity has been at a low level. The reasons have been lack of finance and the uncertain future for brokers. There was the threat of commission disclosure

Broking profits fall at Saga

Underlying profit before tax in Saga’s insurance broking arm fell to £39.8m for the year ended 31 January 2024, compared with £71.5m in the previous period.
