It’s traditional at this time of year for the editor’s welcome to contain some twee remarks about how it’s been a tough year but that the coming year offers lots of positives. I know because I’ve done it myself.

Well I am not going to do that, not because I am a miserable so and so (I am) but because the market is showing some real signs of stress at the moment and that is concerning. The number of executives, some very senior, that were dispatched in the last few months of 2011 is staggering

Broking profits fall at Saga

Underlying profit before tax in Saga’s insurance broking arm fell to £39.8m for the year ended 31 January 2024, compared with £71.5m in the previous period.
