Skills shortages in general insurance businesses have risen significantly over the last twelve months although the industry believes it can compete globally according to a survey.

Seventy-three percent of employers polled reported shortages which is a 13 percent increase on 2013.

The Chartered Insurance Institute's (CII) annual skills survey of its membership was conducted in association with Markerstudy Group.

The research found 62 percent of employers struggle to attract new talent
