Commercial Express adds five new recruits

Underwriting agency currently in hiring process for another two staff members.

Commercial Express has appointed two new underwriters in a sweep of hires.

Sharmina Rahman joins the provider from Ecclesiastical, where she specialised in property owners and liability underwriting, and Siobhan Penlington joins from Aviva.

Meanwhile Andy Lees and Shalman Ahmed have joined the business development team.

Lees, who has worked for Premium Choice and Fresh Insurance, has been appointed BDM for North London and Essex while Ahmed, previously at AIG and RBSI, joins as the BDM support.

Broking profits fall at Saga

Underlying profit before tax in Saga’s insurance broking arm fell to £39.8m for the year ended 31 January 2024, compared with £71.5m in the previous period.
