Ashgrove Insurance swoops for Yorkshire-based broker

Ashgrove MD Stephen Duffy reveals firm is eyeing up "three or four other brokers".

Ashgrove Insurance has expanded across the Pennines with the acquisition of Yorkshire-based AJ Hird Insurance Consultants, Insurance Age can reveal.

The deal for the Addingham branch of the commercial and personal lines broker - which boasts a turnover of just over £1m and - was completed yesterday. AJ Hird also has an office in Skipton which specialises in financial and mortgage advice but this was not part of the acquisition.

Broking profits fall at Saga

Underlying profit before tax in Saga’s insurance broking arm fell to £39.8m for the year ended 31 January 2024, compared with £71.5m in the previous period.
