Health news: PMI providers warned against taking advantage of public cuts

In the wake of the Government's controversial benefit cuts, health insurance providers have been warned against tapping into highly emotive areas by mutual insurer National Friendly.

While David Castling, head of intermediary distribution at National Friendly, agreed that the private medical insurance (PMI) industry should see the Government's measures as an opportunity, he warned that providers should "be wary of tapping into highly emotive and topical issues relating to the budget cuts".

"Instead, providers must think long term and focus on offering sustainable benefits that provide added value for the lifetime of their products," he added.
