Ink hopes facility launch will fill solicitors' PI hole

Ink Underwriting Agencies has stated its intention to seize a "sizeable chunk" of the solicitors' professional indemnity (PI) market following the launch of a new facility.

The managing general agent has joined forces with St Giles Legal and Professional Risks to launch the offering, issued by Alpha Insurance and underwritten by Greenlight Re, ahead of the 1 October solicitors' PI renewal deadline.

Mike Smith, managing director of Ink, explained that Quinn Insurance's exit had left a "gaping hole" in the market.

"Ink brokers and Westinsure brokers have raised it as an issue. They had clients that were struggling to get cover," he added.
