Bluefin selected as SPL broker

Bluefin is to target further sporting business north of the border after being appointed by the Scottish Premier League (SPL) as its nominated insurance broker.

As part of the deal, Bluefin, which incorporates the former SBJ Sports division, will place and coordinate the core liability and personal accident insurance programme for the league and its member clubs including Celtic, Rangers and Dundee United.

In a bid to grow north of the border, Bluefin has launched a dedicated Scottish sports insurance division in Glasgow, which will be headed up by Ray Brown, who has joined from Aviva.

Colin Preston, Bluefin regional managing director for Scotland, said

Broking profits fall at Saga

Underlying profit before tax in Saga’s insurance broking arm fell to £39.8m for the year ended 31 January 2024, compared with £71.5m in the previous period.
