Coventry-based broker The Policy Shop has launched a new property division which will lead to the creation of up to 40 new jobs over the next 12 months.

As well as offering greater focus on household content and building insurance the new operation will specialise in non-standard property business, providing insurance underwriting solutions on homes which carry a greater risk.

The firm will also provide insurance products for landlords who let a portfolio of property, holiday homes and multiple building owners.

The Policy Shop currently has £16m of gross written premium, but expects to increase that figure to over £20 million within the next 18 months.

Alongside the property division, a new commercial account executive will be recruited to package and promote a range of insurance products to SME businesses including retailers. An ancillary department will also be established to up-sell added value products to all areas of the business.

Managing director, Sean Byrne, who founded the business in 1993, said: “We have built an excellent reputation amongst many of the UK’s leading insurance companies and deployed varied and innovative marketing strategies which have been a major driver for the business expansion. Our strength has come from the focus we have on providing a personal service to our customers and ensuring we are providing the most appropriate cover for their needs."

Risk reviews for PII Brokers

We help PII brokers to find out if their clients' quality management systems reduce risk. In our experience many don't, and certification to ISO 9001 is not a reliable indicator. We can help your clients to reduce bureaucracy and make controls more effective.
