Risk management/claims: Halifax tops the league of UK business crime hotspots

Halifax has been named as the UK's top business crime hotspot for the second consecutive year, with one in 15 companies having made a claim last year compared with a national average of one in 37.

Axa's annual Business Crime Index revealed that despite a small decrease of 0.8% in reported business crime in 2009, compared to 2008, nearly half of UK business owners (47%) surveyed felt their businesses were more vulnerable to crime than a year ago.

Axa said that over the last 10 years the average cost of business crime had risen by 58% while the Consumer Price Index had risen by just 22%.
