Brokers need to rethink how they assess risk

Brokers and insurers have been urged to "fundamentally rethink" how risk is assessed following the warning that a "perfect storm" could be brewing in commercial insurance.

In its Sector Risk Research Programme report, specialist research firm Mactavish said that companies running increased risks in the wake of the recession, combined with failures by management and the insurance industry to address them effectively, could prompt a new phase of the financial crisis.
