Zurich's decision to implement blanket rate increases on its private motor book has exposed the diversity in strategy among the leading composite insurers in this arena.
The Swiss insurer took the market by surprise when it announced it intended to push through sharp rate hikes in personal lines motor - increases that are expected to reach up to 20% in the broker channel.
Mark Coffey, head of personal lines at Zurich's broker division, said: "We have not aimed our increases at specific brokers
