Zurich admits policyholder data loss a year later

Zurich Insurance has admitted that more than one third of its brokers have been impacted by the loss of a backup data tape containing the details of tens of thousands of the company's policyholders. The insurer only revealed the loss a year after the tape went missing in South Africa.
It recently wrote to 51,000 general insurance customers and other parties in the UK to inform them about the loss of the tape.
As part of this, the approximately 3,000 intermediaries Zurich deals with in the UK
