Market moves: Spring has sprung

Over the past month, the newly-constructed Towergate has continued to be a popular destination for movers within the industry. Sarah Dalgarno and Steve Wood joined the consolidator as chief risk officer and CEO of Paymentshield respectively (see box). Elsewhere Stuart Counsell became a non-executive chairman of Henderson Insurance Brokers while Rob Wardle became the commercial account manager at Principal Insurance. Howard Green will replace Colin Marshall as the CEO of Besso Limited while Footman James and Lorica Insurance Brokers welcomed 19 and six new staff members respectively. The insurers and MGAs also had their fair share of movers too. New kid on the block Bluefin Underwriting took on Jon May and Andy Hill in underwriting capacities and Ageas also added to its regional underwriters with hires of Paul Gray and Nick Hall. Zurich promoted David Brown to head of broker market for Scotland, Jamie Bouloux joined CFC while Sterling Insurance Group hired Pauline Palmer as a regional development manager. Insurance really has sprung into Spring when it comes to market moves.

Former Deloitte finance director, Stuart Counsell, is the new non-executive chairman of Henderson Insurance Brokers with the aim of driving forward the Leeds-based company’s growth plans. He replaced Fred Gibson who stepped down from the role after 15 years. The broker has also appointed Lisa Newman as a specialist in rural and farm insurance to meet the needs of its customers in this area. Applied updates on commercial push

Applied Systems has confirmed Arch Insurance is about to enter the pilot phase of onboarding and will be live on the Applied Epic broker management system in April, with Iprism and Ark to follow and more promised in 2024.
