The PMI market may boast a healthy take up but there appears to be a great deal of discontent over some providers' stance towards claims data sharing. Sarah Hills explores whether the market is ready to improve its approach to communicating risk

With the number of people covered by private medical insurance (PMI) breaking the six-million mark for the first time in five years, it would appear this sector is currently riding the crest of a wave. This figure is augmented by a further 1.1 million people covered through healthcare trust arrangements, putting the total number of people in the UK obtaining some form of healthcare cover to over seven million.
